Pricing Transparency & Community Support Statement
Transparency is one of the core values of Rooted Respite, which is why I want you to know how our services are priced. There are far too many coaching offerings in the world that aren’t clear about their prices upfront, which I think is unethical. Rooted Respite will always be as transparent as possible about the cost of our offerings and what assistance is available.
Being a Black, trans business owner and creator under capitalism is not easy. I’ve spent most of my career woefully underemployed and underpaid while other people reap the rewards for my ideas. I launched Rooted Respite fully knowing that it would be difficult, but worth it to liberate myself from wage labor. I hope to do this for many other Black and brown LGBTQ+ creators.
As of September 2023, Rooted Respite cannot offer scholarships for our programs. I launched this business in August with negative funds to my name. Right now, I am allocating funds to building a solid foundation on which more financially accessible programs can be built.
Rooted Respite is not a nonprofit organization, which, to me, means we can be better positioned to fund change in a way that has real impact. This means redistributing as much profit as possible to those who need it while still being able to pay the bills.
You can read our community support goals below to see how we plan to distribute funds in 2024.
Thank you for your support!

Rooted Respite has outlined the following community support goals for 2024:
Implement a sliding scale for virtual community membership with 10% of revenue coming from low-cost memberships.
Give $10,000 worth of scholarships to people wanting to participate in Get Your Life but are prohibited because of the program’s cost.
Reserve and redistribute 50% of profit to the community. Here’s a breakdown of what this will look like:
Reserve 20% of profit from the year to go towards GYL scholarships for the following year, increasing our base $10,000 to $14,000 in 2025. We will continue to compound this percentage of our revenue for the next 5 years.
Distribute 20% of profit to Black, Indigenous, trans creators starting in 2025.
Distribute 10% of profit to organizations doing prison abolition and advocacy for QTBIPOC prisoners.
In 2024, we encourage all of our clients with means to add an extra 10% to the total cost of their coaching to help fund scholarships in the early months of the year.
